Kerala Naadan Chemmeen Fry ചെമ്മീൻ ഫ്രൈ

Big head Prawn fry is a delicacy in kerala. This konju fry is available in toddy shop and it is really tasty. Konju look nice with the big head and the long blue legs. This big head prawn fry has a regular marination but at the end it is flavored with garlic, curry leaves and green chillies. The fried garlic gives this dish a mesmerizing taste. Konju fried in coconut oil will give a nice aroma and a traditional taste.Check out the video below the recipe.


  • Konju – 2 numbers
  • kashmiri chilly powder – 1 tablespoon
  • TurmericPowder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • PepperPowder -1 teasponn
  • Garlic – 4 numbers cut into small pieces
  • CurryLeaves – 2 stem
  • GreenChillies – 3 number slit length wise
  • CoconutOil – Enough to fry konju
  • Salt – to taste

Take 6-8 Chemmeen/Konju/ (prawns)
Mix all the powders in water. Keep it thick.

Apply the paste to the prawn and keep it for 15 minutes.
Heat coconut oil in a pan and fry the prawns in it. Turn the side when one is almost done.
When Chemmeen/konju is 75% cooked, add curry leaves, green chillies and garlic. Please make sure garlic do not get burned. it should be crispy.
Take the prawns from the oil with the all the masala.
